Things Are Worse Than They Seem
It may indeed prove to be a miscarriage of justice, but as Roger Kimball notes, it is also “business as usual in the swamp.”
How to remedy the violations of the spirit of the law? Mr. Kimball admits in Spectator US to his lack of knowledge. Kimball’s hope, however, is that those who attempted to subvert the 2016 election will finally be held accountable.
A Miscarriage of Justice
Few voters have forgotten “the story of the century.” That’s the story in which Obama personally helped create/promote Russiagate, which tied into knots for years the administration of President Donald Trump I.
It also served as a cover story for Obama using the FBI to spy on Trump, reminds Don Surber at Substack.
Russiagate makes Watergate look like suckers, accuses Surber.
(Barrack) Obama called in the pros to spy because they had experience and had the deep-state judiciary’s approval through FISA.
Pam Bondi, President Trump’s AG, has the proof and the fire to take the case to a grand jury.
Perhaps, you’re wondering, where is the Media? The Media is a subsidiary of the intelligence community, Kimball accuses. The media’s “fat talk” is not about curbing government censorship. Rather, its goal is to peddle lies from the FBI.
Judicial Lunacy
Don’t hold your breath waiting to see Barack Obama don an orange suit. Ain’t gonna happen. As the WSJ notes, Obama benefits from the same Supreme Court-ordered immunity for official acts that President Trump does.
Although directing U.S. intelligence efforts certainly qualifies, it doesn’t stop hubris-saturated jurists like James Boasberg. Boasberg is Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He would like to think that he, not Donald Trump, is the one wielding a large piece of that executive power, according to Mr. Kimball.
Article II of the Constitution may vest all executive authority in “a president of the United States.”
Thus, when Donald Trump decided to send some violent Venezuelan criminals to EL Salvador for safe keeping, Boasberg began yapping like a rabid cur and said,, “No you don’t. Turn the planes around. Bring them back.” (Paraphrasing by Kimball.)
As a long-time left-wing activist, Boasberg played a central, if largely undiscussed, role in the beginning chapters of the Russia Collusion Delusion.
A Confederacy of Dunces
Messrs. Comey, Clapper, and Brennan aren’t Trump admirers, insists the WSJ’s Jenkins, but they wouldn’t have stooped to their reckless acts simply to thwart a president they didn’t like. “It was a cover-up,” continues Holman Jenkins.
Mr. Comey’s first untoward decision spawned his second, reopening the Hillary probe shortly before Election Day, which Mrs. Clinton and independent pollsters say elected Mr. Trump.
Unfortunately, continues Mr. Jenkins, there is more to learn, but voters probably won’t.
One intriguing tidbit suggests the FBI, early on, had a list of U.S. emails the Russians were targeting. One was a “Russia analyst” whose redacted affiliation happens to be the same length as the word “Brookings.”
This brings to mind the former Brookings Institution analyst Igor Danchenko, who would quickly be identified by the FBI as a “primary sub-source” for the Steele dossier. Mr. Danchenko would thereupon end up on the FBI’s payroll for the next four years, heavily incentivized not to share with the world what he knew.
Do they remember Kevin Clinesmith? Nor do I. But fear not, Roger Kimball’s memory is long …
(Clinesmith) was the FBI lawyer who, in 2017, helped get the Russia Collusion Delusion going by altering a CIA email regarding Carter Page, one of the many pro-Trump figures who was harassed by the DOJ. (How do you spell “tampering with evidence”?)
Mr. Kimball, please fill readers in a little about Clinesmith and how he fared.
In 2020, he pleaded guilty to doctoring the email and was sentenced to – are you ready? – a 12-month probation.
Well, Mr. Kimball, who is responsible for that tiny rap on Clinesmith’s knuckles?
Why, (Judge) James Boasberg, of course.
