Obama’s Assault Weapons Ban

December 14, 2011 By The Editors

President Obama has banned 1 million rifles in the United States. The same rifles used in sportsmen’s competitions and coveted by collectors. The very same rifles American soldiers used to defend freedom in South Korea.

John Garand, left, points out features of the M1 Garand rifle to senior Army officials: Major General Charles M. Wesson, center, Brigadier General Gilbert H. Stewart, right.

The President and his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton have added to their litany of anti-second amendment actions by preventing nearly a million M1 Garand rifles leftover from the Korean War to be sent back to America for sale to riflemen and collectors.

Senator Rand Paul and the National Association for Gun Rights have taken the lead in protesting this unconstitutional action by the president. You can give them your support by filling out the Firearms Freedom Survey.

This isn’t the first attempt to limit the second amendment rights of Americans by the Obama administration. The Obama-ATF has tried to force firearms dealers to act as informants, monitoring innocent Americans for their gun buying habits. That’s the same ATF that lost track of thousands of rifles it recklessly allowed violent Mexican drug cartels to buy without impediment.

Of course, the President is also playing the long game against gun owners by stacking the Supreme Court with anti-second amendment justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. More than a few so-called “conservative” senators should be forced into serious primaries over their affirmative votes for each of the radical justices.

Short term, conservative Americans should consider filling out the Firearms Freedom Survey to protect their gun rights today. Long-term, conservative Americans need to eject Mr. Obama from the presidency, enhancing the Supreme Court’s originalist foundation and preventing further corruption of the laws laid down by America’s founders in the Constitution.
