Isabella Simonetti and Joe Flint of The Wall Street Journal report that the ABC News had initially planned to release Biden’s interview on Sunday, but will now release it on Friday evening, this comes as the president is under pressure to show he is fit to stay in the race after a disastrous debate performance last week. They write:
ABC News plans to air its much-anticipated interview with President Biden in its entirety on Friday evening, a sign of the growing importance of the event.
The decision to accelerate the release of George Stephanopoulos’s interview with Biden—set to be taped earlier Friday, but originally slated to be released Sunday—comes as the president is under pressure to show he is fit to stay in the race after a disastrous debate performance last week. […]
His more-vigorous tone during the event helped reassure some supporters, but unlike at the debate, he was reading off a teleprompter.
“Teleprompters don’t count,” said Frank Sesno, a professor at George Washington University and a former Washington bureau chief for CNN. “He gets half credit for the event.”
