
WCNC’s Rebecca Smith reports that U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents have arrested 81 people on their first day of enforcement actions in Charlotte, NC. She writes:
The operation, also known as “Charlotte’s Web,” began Saturday morning.
Commander Gregory K. Bovino described those arrested as having “significant criminal and immigration history.”
“81, many of whom had significant criminal and immigration history, are off the streets,” Bovino said.

Charlotte marks the first city where CBP said it will spearhead immigration enforcement without coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the same location. While ICE has conducted arrests in Charlotte previously, that agency was not coordinating with Border Patrol during Saturday’s operation.The agency has not released detailed information about the nature of the operation or its duration in Charlotte.
