In a recent post on Truth Social, President Trump berated NATO allies for refusing to aid the United States in its war against Iran. He wrote:
NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN. REMEMBER GREENLAND, THAT BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE!!! President DJT
He followed it up later with another post that read:
None of these people, including our own, very disappointing, NATO, understood anything unless they have pressure placed upon them!!!
The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, discussed the Iran war with Jake Tapper on CNN this morning. He told tapper that the world was safer after Trump’s attacks on Iran. Watch:

Former Counterterrorism Director Joe Kent posited an alternative theory as to why the Trump administration would want to leave NATO, suggesting that Israel will eventually fight Turkey over Syria, and that the United States would then have to choose a side between its NATO ally, Turkey, and Israel. He posted on X.com:
Unfortunately leaving NATO won’t be to avoid foreign entanglements, we’ll be leaving NATO so we can side with Israel when Turkey & Israel eventually clash in Syria.
This is after we helped topple the secular Syrian gov & installed a former AQ/ISIS leader as president.
