
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a fifth follow-on contract with Japan, valued at over NOK 800 million, to supply Joint Strike Missiles (JSM) for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s F-35A aircraft. The fifth-generation stealth missile can be carried internally, preserving the F-35’s low-observable profile. This agreement further strengthens the long-standing partnership between Kongsberg and Japan, with the JSM also selected by Norway, Australia, Germany, and the United States. December 19th 2025 – Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS (‘KONGSBERG’) has entered a fifth follow-on contract with Japan to deliver the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) for its fleet of F-35A fighter aircraft. The contract is valued at more than NOK 800 million.
The JSM is a 5th generation stealth air-to surface missile, which can be carried internally in the F-35A thus ensuring the aircraft’s low-signature capabilities.

The JSM has been selected by Japan, Norway, Australia, Germany and the United States.
