Gavin Newsom beat Kamala Harris in a survey of potential Democratic presidential primary candidates in their home state of California. Politico’s survey found that 28% of Democratic Primary voter respondents preferred Newsom, while only 14% preferred Harris. Those two were followed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with 12%, and Pete Buttigieg with 11%.

Politico gave the same survey questions to “political influencers,” and Harris’s performance was much worse among them. Only 2% of policy influencers preferred Harris over her potential primary opponents. That placed her tied for 11th with names like Rep. Ro Khanna and Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Influencers are telling Harris not to run.

As recently as a month ago, Harris was considering running again for president. In a live video call with Sharon McMahon, Kamala Harris said she “might” run again.
