Biden Task Force Co-Chaired by AOC

This week voters got a taste of what the Biden campaign is offering. For a starter,

Joe Biden would create a new “Environmental and Climate Justice Division” of the Justice Department to mete out “jail time” to corporate officials whose businesses “continue to pollute” communities.

“The Justice Department would become a weapon against businessmen who run afoul of fast-changing progressive standards, reports Kimberley Strassel in the WSJ.

Joe Biden Vows:

  • To outlaw all use of coal and natural gas to generate electricity within 15 years.
  • To ban oil and gas production on federal land and offshore.
  • To allow only “zero emissions” cars.
  • To apply “aggressive” new “appliance- and building-efficiency standards.”

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders have released the results of their 110-page negotiations, and apparently the “Unity Task Force” plan is dominated by Sanders.

The UTF would nearly triple Hillary Clinton’s 2016 tax-hike proposal, cautions Christopher Bedford in The Federalist. Here are a few its proposals:

  • Free college
  • Acceleration the Democratic “zero-emissions” plan
  • A “full scale” audit of American border security officers
  • Citizenship for illegal immigrants

Recall that Biden ran as a moderate, refusing to raise his hand for things like opening the border and decriminalizing its illegal crossings, Mr. Bedford reminds readers. After the Biden/Sanders “compromise,” no longer.

“Breakthrough Opportunity” to Rewrite the Economy

“The compromise they came up with, if implemented, will make Biden the most progressive president since FDR,” Sanders crowed to MSNBC after the report’s release.

“We’re going to have a breathtaking opportunity… to rewrite our economy,” Biden agreed from his home, his blue blazer struggling to stay on his sagging shoulders.

Mr. Biden’s $2 trillion climate-change plan is “one of the few times he’s produced a detail on anything,” notes Ms. Strassel. That it is radical should be no surprise. The task force is co-chaired by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

At a time of soaring unemployment, courtesy of Chinese Coronavirus, Mr. Biden is “promising to delete the jobs of millions of Americans,” continues Ms. Strassel.

Consumer Choice Will Disappear

A study by the National Ocean Industries Association finds that a ban on offshore drilling alone would cost 200,000 jobs, damaging regional economies.

Mr. Biden would overrun the nation with solar panels, wind turbines and charging stations. Basic consumer choice would disappear for vehicles, dishwashers, even homes. The Justice Department would become a weapon against businessmen who run afoul of fast-changing progressive standards.
