President Donald Trump’s administration has locked down the southern border more tightly than it has ever been, but cartels are still trying to get drugs across. Anyone who has paid even a little attention to the war in Ukraine understands that drone warfare has made old obstacles and boundaries obsolete, and that anyone with drones can bypass unprotected areas easily.
Yesterday, the FAA shut down the airspace over El Paso. Later, it was explained that cartel drones from Mexico were the cause for concern. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy posted:
The FAA and DOW acted swiftly to address a cartel drone incursion.
The threat has been neutralized, and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region.
The restrictions have been lifted and normal flights are resuming. https://t.co/xQA1cMy7l0
