Goya Foods Awards AOC “Employee of the Month”

Remember earlier this year when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), supported a boycott of Goya Foods after CEO Robert Unanue visited the Trump White House as part of a Hispanic Prosperity Initiative?

Prominent leftist Hispanics including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and “Hamilton” playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, rounded on Mr. Unanue for his praise of Mr. Trump, urging a boycott of Goya’s products. These include rice, oil, sauces, spices and a bewildering variety of beans.

From Mr. Unanue:

When she (AOC) boycotted us, our sales actually increased 1,000%. So we gave her an honorary. We never were able to hand it to her, but she got employee of the month for bringing attention to Goya and our adobo.

Thanks to Mr. Unanue, who participated in similar initiatives for Barack and Michelle Obama, Goya Foods never backed down and his company wasn’t harmed.
