Independent Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema ripped into the Biden administration for what is quickly becoming a complete disaster on America’s southern border. Sinema noted that the Biden administration had two years to prepare for the end of the Title 42 policy that kept many illegal immigrants from crossing the border, and yet has seemingly done nothing. Morgan Phillips reports in The Daily Mail:
A frustrated Sen. Kyrsten Sinema tore into the Biden administration for failing to prepare for the end of Title 42 as she said she would press forward with getting colleagues on board with her own proposal to do exactly that.
The free-thinking former Democrat said the federal government had left the border state she represents, Arizona, ‘without adequate resources’ for the pandemic-era restriction’s end.
She said she was on the phone with local authorities ‘on an hourly basis’ trying to figure out how stretched state and local resources can step in to aid the inundation of migrants up to and after the conclusion of Title 42.
‘It’s clear that the Biden administration, while it had two years to prepare for the end of Title 42, failed to do so,’ Sinema told reporters.
Sinema, who together with Tillis addressed the press on their joint proposal, said their bill would give border agents the exact same immediate expulsion authority as Title 42 but without being hinged on the Covid public health emergency.
‘The end of title 42 was premature and the administration chose not to prepare adequately for it,’ Sinema continued. ‘The administration could extend the time of Title 42 on its own and actually do the preparation to prepare for an orderly end to Title 42.’
