My Destination of the Year

November 5, 2009 By Richard C. Young

We are happy to introduce you to the very intimate and special Hotel Fauchère. Located in Milford, Pennsylvania, near the New York border, Hotel Fauchère is both convenient to reach and really deserving of your kind patronage.

You will enjoy the quiet old time main dining room, the Delmonico Room, and the upscale Bar Louis, downstairs. Established in 1852, and painstakingly restored and reopened in 2006, this elegant little hotel has become a favorite getaway for those seeking sumptuous relaxation and extraordinary cuisine in an elegant, historic setting.

You will find such touches as European-style dual down comforters, Frette linens, Kiehl’s bath and body products, in-room Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, flat-panel TVs, marble bathrooms with heated towel racks and radiant floor heat. Milford itself is a neat little town, featuring Fretta’s Italian Food Specialties market and the Pâtisserie (an artisan bread and pastry café). Both are but a salami’s throw from the Hotel Fauchère. Two or three times a year Debbie and I go out of our way to go to all. Fretta’s, formerly from Brooklyn, is an old-time corner charcuterie. We load our Harleys and take away all we can carry on each wonderful visit to Fretta’s. Debbie and I wish you a happy Christmas and New Year’s and hope you will enjoy your getaway at the splendid hotel Fauchère as much as we have. Make it a great stay.
