In a recent email, Heart & Soil wonders at how companies convinced Americans that whatever is inside a cereal box is better for them at breakfast than meat or eggs. They write:
Walked down the cereal aisle today for kicks.
77 different boxes all saying “heart healthy.”
None of them are just FYI.
Lucky Charms. Frosted Flakes. Cheerios.
They really convinced us these are better than steak for breakfast.
And we just… believed them.
Wild.
It’s pig-swill.
Shop the perimeter. Or the farmers market.
Meat. Eggs. Raw milk. Fruit. Honey.
Cook with tallow.
Eat some liver.
Just like our ancestors did.
In fact they always ate the organs first.
Just like wolves. Lions. Orcas.
Every apex predator knows where the real nutrition is.
We’re the only ones that forgot.
Now we spend $15 on McDonald’s that destroys our health.
While calling a $10 grass-fed steak “expensive.”
Pretty wild.
Things are changing though. And people like us are the reason.
5 years ago, nobody even knew what a seed oil was. Now you can get tallow-fries in a bunch of restaurants.
5 years ago, morning sunlight was fringe. Now my middle-aged aunt and zoomer cousin drink their morning coffee on the porch.
Keep living radical. The world is catching up.
Can’t wait to see where we are in another 5 years.
P.S. It’s perfectly acceptable to eat ground beef 7 days a week

One of my favorite health books is Shane Ellison’s Over the Counter Natural Cures. He focuses on prescription drugs’ ability to make patients sicker than they already are, and what can be done instead.
