As a boy, I watched the Blues Brothers movie with my dad and loved Soul Man most of all. The open licks on the guitar are iconic and unmistakable. As Steve Cropper explains in the video below, he knew it would only take the audience two notes to know which song he was playing. When I grew older and picked up the guitar myself, I made sure I learned Soul Man.
