Did the FBI use the “Trump Dossier” to get warrants, to open a counter-intelligence investigation? Was the FBI using unverified information to open inquiries into private citizens?
In an interview with Tucker Carlson, House Intelligence Committee Rep. Devin Nunes said he wants to find out if the FBI was able to obtain warrants using the Trump dossier and if the FBI “opened a ‘counter-intelligence investigation’ based on the unverified info.”
I think that the challenge here is that if you had an unverified dossier paid for by political opponents, in this case, the Democratic party that the FBI is taking and using to open investigations into a campaign or into other Americans, we are on a slippery slope. I imagine this is what you see in third world countries where the party in power uses the intelligence services for their political gain. You don’t see that in the United States of America,
According to the Washington Post, the Trump Dossier was actually Democratic Party opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC:
The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said.
Did the Justice Department under Obama take opposition research funded by the campaign of the candidate of the President’s party and use that opposition research to obtain FISA warrants to spy on the campaign of the opponent? Francis Menton points out in the Manhattan Contrarian, “Now we have taken corruption to another whole new level. Oh, and then some of the same people who committed those acts are actually now the ones conducting a supposedly “independent” investigation of the President himself?”
