The final version of the new GOP health-care bill will not be presented (if it can even clear a Senate vote) to Americans until after, perhaps well after, the 4th of July. As an independent taking a supporting view on behalf of all Americans, I will read the entire bill as soon as it clears the Senate.
As your research representative, I would not agree to vote for the new health care bill as it stands today. Unlike senators, I am not running for office and am not seeking your vote to put me back in Washington for six more years. Keep this in mind as you consider the new health bill as it relates to your family and small business.

In coming weeks I will relate my own personal health-care/insurance nightmare. If I am an example, I can assure you that our representatives in the U.S. Senate, with potentially a few exceptions, are not looking out for you or me, or our families or businesses. I, along with our staff at Young Research, will continue to look for alternatives to this travesty.
The best news of all is that I will be bringing you the research findings of my favorite health-care researcher in America—Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the Cato Institute.
In the interim, while visiting richardcyoung.com, read about “The Swiss Way.” I offer this as a roadmap for the way forward. The Swiss have a federal system employing a hands-off approach to most matters of state. The real work is done at the local level (Cantons), which gives citizens more control over their lives and livelihoods.
To support your effort, you may want to order the Cato Institute’s outstanding little vest pocket booklet, “The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America.” You will benefit more than I can tell you from the scholarly Preface prepared by my friend Roger Pilon, senior fellow and director of Cato’s’ Center for Constitutional Studies. (For more information about the Cato Institute, visit Cato.org or call 202-842-0200.
Debbie and I are Cato Benefactors and long-time members of Cato Club 200. We count as good friends Cato co-founder Ed Crane, Cato Chairman Bob Levy, and former Cato CEO John Allison, whom I have written about often at Richardcyoung.com and who was my choice for Secretary of the Treasury under President Donald Trump. Click here to read all my postings on John. Finally, we count as a good friend Peter Goettler, Cato’s new and excellent president and leader.
I would be remiss in not thanking Thomas Jefferson as Independence Day draws near. Read more about this great man here, here and here.
