We sure hope Beacon Hill Bostonians are not going to be too upset about the 110,000 international refugees that Secretary of State John Kerry told members of Congress the White House wants to admit. Oh wait … not one of the 110,000 is going to be placed anywhere near Mr. Kerry’s Louisburg Square home. Louisburg Square, home to some of the most ornate and stylish properties in the Boston region, is also where the long-time residence is of Secretary of State John Kerry and wife Teresa Heinz Kerry.
So in whose lucky ‘hood are the 110,000 going to be placed? Assuredly not in Louisburg Square, or Chappaqua, New York, or even a Trump Tower. And it’s highly unlikely they’ll end up residing anywhere near the eventual residence of our first likely ex-presidential billionaire after he exits the White House.
As Peggy Noonan noted several weeks ago in the WSJ, the top seems to be detaching from the bottom; our leaders are detaching from the led. “It is not only a detachment from, but a lack of interest in, the lives of your countrymen, of those who are not at the table, and who understand that they’ve been abandoned by their leaders’ selfishness and mad virtue-signalling.”
