The Lesson of Robert Bennett – Jonah Goldberg, National Review
As Jonah Goldberg describes, the talk of “astroturf” tea parties, ginned up by GOP bigwigs can certainly be put away after Bob Bennet’s loss at the polls. Americans are simply fed up with Washington insider politics and want true, conservative representation that speaks for the ideals for which they stand. Small government, less intrusion into the lives of citizens, and better management of the small amount of government that is mandated by the Constitution. – Dick Young
How Badly Will the Democrats Do? – Karl Rove, The Wall Street Journal
Karl Rove has depicted a somewhat gruesome future for Democrats. While they have a bit more money in the bank right now, I’m not sure that will remain so once the primaries are completed. It is my guess that some big GOP donors are staying on the sidelines to see how the primaries play out. If their preferred candidates are elected in most primaries, I would think the fundraising arms of the GOP will get an influx of cash. But if the big donors don’t get a majority of their candidates, look for them to donate to individual campaigns that suit their politics. – Timothy Jones
2 Down, 533 to Go – James Taranto, The Wall Street Journal
Americans are completely frustrated with the politics of Washington. Incumbents (and incumbent parties) that have been locked into congressional districts and states around the country for years are seeing an absolute revolt at the polls in 2010. Most of the country hasn’t yet been able to participate in the revolt, but wait until November. We’ll see some proverbial blood in the streets when the results come in on election night. – Dick Young
