In rotation during lockdown, The Band, The Last Waltz.
The Last Waltz is probably The Band’s best-known performance and album. With guest appearances by greats like Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and more. At the time, The Band consisted of Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Robbie Robertson. The film of the concert caused some controversy among the musicians. Produced by Martin Scorcese and Robbie Robertson, the film made it seem as though Robertson was the leader of The Band, despite his actual status as its weakest member. He would be replaced later by the very talented Jim Weider when The Band reformed.
