In just the last six months, on Debbie’s and my return to Paris this October, the Lime Scooters phenomenon has exploded. You can hardly walk anywhere in the 6th or 8th arrondissements, for example, without tripping over these things just lying on a sidewalk waiting for a new renter to arrive and scooter off. It’s unreal. And the headlights on these darn things are super bright, making night scooting no problem. As we have learned, it’s wise to keep a look out for the “green.”

Less than three months after announcing an investment from Uber Technologies Inc., electric-scooter startup Lime has landed one of its key business executives.
Lime, which has raised $467 million, said it hired David Richter as chief of business, where he will oversee mergers and acquisitions, sales strategy and other finance operations. He held a similar role at Uber for more than four years and was part of a small group of executives running the company briefly as it sought a new chief executive officer last year.
The scooters arrived in U.S. cities less than a year ago when companies started dumping them seemingly overnight around urban centers for $1 rentals.
Lime scooters will be offered in the coming weeks as a rental option for Uber customers as part of an investment from the ride-hailing firm.
