Marco Rubio, for his part, won only Minnesota and failed to win enough support in Texas, Alabama and Vermont to earn any delegates. The big government, military/industrial complex Republican elite must now be ready to crack. Following the demise of the dreadful Jeb Bush campaign, the War Dogs appeared to be digging in behind Marco Rubio. Super Tuesday’s Rubio meltdown must have Republican elite now in quite a twit.
Once small government, federal republic based Rand Paul withdrew from the race I, and most other small government, non interventionist oriented voters, were left without a lead candidate. The principles of small government are perhaps explained best by the guiding principles laid out in The American Conservative. “Our principles-federalism and decentralized political power, fiscal responsibility, a foreign policy of prudence respect for traditional liberties and communities.” TAC’s goal is “to do real damage to the reigning big government /interventionist consensus that is always in favor of another war, more spending, taking away civil liberties, and ignoring the Constitution.”
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton best exemplify the type of politician most offensive to the sort of small government, non-interventionist form of government proposed by The American Conservative. With Dr. Paul out of the race, I am left with voting for whoever remains in the fight against her. The prospects are, to be kind, unpleasant.
