There are few members of the Senate in greater need of replacement than Senators McCain and Graham. The Senators refer to President Obama’s “grand bargain” as “”a good start.” As the House GOP press release more correctly stated, the Obama scheme was indeed not a bargain, let alone grand. National Review Online’s Jonathan Strong notes that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called the Obama proposal a serious blow to chances for true bipartisan action in Washington. I think Minority Leader McConnell is in reality being kind with his wording. At this juncture, I see no grounds for compromise with President Obama. Nor do the majority of House Republicans.
