Election scourge, one Sheldon Adelson, is back at it brandishing his fortune of gambling money. The goal, as in the last presidential election, is to put in place a malleable candidate to fall in line with Adelson-style foreign policy.
My advice to any Republican candidate is to stay clear of Adelson and make it clear to Americans that you will be seeking neither foreign policy council nor campaign contributions from the Adelson camp.
Here Pat Buchanan exposes a group of Republican candidates apparently only too willing to toe the Adelson line of foreign policy thinking. Pat comments, “It is hard to imagine that the Moral Majority of Rev. Jerry Falwell in the Reagan years would have been comfortable with the ascendancy of Sheldon Adelson in the Republican hierarchy.”
I had lunch yesterday in Lynchburg, Virginia with an old friend who was also an old friend of Jerry’s. I was assured that Pat’s view here is dead on the money. Rev. Falwell would have been no fan of the Adelson game.
And by the way I do not see Rand Paul’s name here on the Adelson influence list!
