The varsity cheerleaders for the neocon/nation builders can be found at The Foreign Policy Initiative. Whenever you see mention of FPI, be assured you are looking at the cheerleaders for meddling in foreign entanglements that have nothing to with the security of America.
FPI looks to PROMOTE an ACTIVE U.S. foreign policy committed to robust support for democratic allies. FPI promotes a strong American military equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century (code for foreign entanglements).
The Foreign Policy Initiative also promotes engagement in the world—diplomatic, economic and military. And FPI is opposed specifically to what FPI views as isolationism (code for minding our own business).
Foreign Policy Initiative’s board of directors includes William Kristol, Robert Kagan, Dan Senor and Eric Edelman. Kristol and Kagan were signatories to the infamous 3 April 2002 letter to George W.Bush pushing for the acceleration of plans for removing Saddam Hussein. Unfortunately for FPI, what was a bad (based on faulty intelligence) idea back in 2003 has continued on as an ever worse idea today.
Foreign Policy Initiative is an offshoot of the original Kristol-led Project for a New American Century (Click here for a roster of PNAC personnel, contributors and signatories).
For those wishing to take a look at American foreign policy through the eyes of policy analysts who think first and foremost of the safety of American citizens, I suggest the foreign policy research conducted by the Cato Institute (See my three part series on Cato Institute Senior Fellow Chris Preble’s The Power Problem here: Part I, Part II, Part III); The Crane Report, published by my friend and Cato Institute co-founder and former president Ed Crane; the books of former CIA bin Laden Unit Chief Michael Scheuer; and the regular columns and books by Pat Buchanan.
