And who is cheerleader and agitator #1? Why, according to Time Magazine, the answer may well be one Van Jones. After departing the White House, due to the surfacing of his radical past, Jones is at it again. Time decided that a four-page spread, including a full-page photo, was just the way to put Jones and his hyper-radical progressive agenda in front of its readers. Just exactly who is buying into this stuff? Looking ahead to the 2012 elections, it is clear that voters reading the Time Jones article with horror will be on one side of the fence and the Jones sympathizers on the other. It is just that simple. I find it hard to believe that the majority of voters will not find the Van Jones model of America to be repugnant to the highest degree. The gloves are off!

You may be familiar with Foreign Policy Initiative and directors William Kristol and Robert Kagan. And you may be familiar with FPI’s 25 February 2011 open letter to President Barack Obama. Forty-five former U.S. government officials and assorted foreign policy experts, including the likes of Paul Wolfowitz, Max Boot, John Podhoretz, and Randy Scheunemann (foreign policy advisor to both Palin and McCain) chimed in. The letter advised President Obama and NATO to develop operational plans to urgently establish a presence in Libyan airspace. The letter was expansive beyond its initial request.

The same quartet—Kristol/Kagan/Wolfowitz/Scheunemann—was the lynchpin of the 1997/2006 Project for the New American Century. The Project was known for its interest in U.S. world dominance and full spectrum dominance. Other names from the Project included Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Frank Gaffney, Robert Kagan, John McCain and Richard Perle. The Project clearly was a fan of regime change.

If all of this is new to you, then maybe it will now be a little clearer to you why so many vested interests come down hard on Ron Paul, the one man running for president who is willing to take a hard-line stand against the neocon crowd. The neocon base is wide, powerful, and well funded. It is the lead horse for the entire military/industrial complex that has allowed America to get embroiled in one life-costing military boondoggle after another, from South Korea to Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan. None was a good idea beforehand, and all were or are disasters upon historical review.

You may be aware that Afghan leader Karzai has now stated (as reported by Reuters) that Afghanistan would support Pakistan in the case of military conflict with America. Are you the least bit surprised? You should not be, as this is how things have historically gone in Afghanistan. Alexander the Great found out. The British found out. And the Soviets found out. Each found out the hard way. History is abundantly clear in all cases. And yet, due to foolish and reckless positions taken by George Bush and Barack Obama, Americans have followed a mistaken course. America has had 10 years to read Afghan history, but has learned little. And still the neocons push forth, and American presidents follow.

Now we have Libya and a temporary victory lap for President Obama, who, bypassing the Constitution and Congress, moved unilaterally on Libya. I urge you to read Michael Hastings’ report, Inside Obama’s War Room. I clearly was not at the White House on Friday, March 18, to corroborate Mr. Hastings’ findings, but in a nutshell here is the core of the issue. The president at this point had not gotten constitutional authority from Congress for aggression in Libya. So congressional leaders were summoned to the White House to converse. Well not much conversing was done. Mr. Hastings reports that, after reading off some prepared talking points, the president exited, telling the assembled congressional leaders to check with his advisors should they have any questions. Well Clinton and Gates were both present and offered little. The Pentagon and Gates, in fact, were not enthusiastic about the mission, questioning among many things the political road map moving forward. Later, Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich asked, “Is this an impeachable offense?” Americans have a chance in 2012 to put our country back on course to a constitutionally strong Federal Republic. We shall see.

A real unpleasant way to start a day, wouldn’t you say? Well did you know that Americans suffer nearly 30,000 property crimes per day? Invading homes is big business. In America, a violent crime happens an astounding every 20 seconds. Makes your palms sweat, does it not? Yet, if you are like a lot of Americans, you are perhaps oblivious to what is going on around you.

In terms of home invasions, what do you think Omaha, Boston, Seattle, Alexandria, Columbus, Albuquerque, Nashville, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Baltimore, Charlotte, San Fran, and Newark all have in common? Did you mention Mara Salvatrucha? Nope, you probably missed MS-13. Mara is slang for a group of young people. Salva is short for El Salvador. Trucha means “on guard.” MS-13 is one of the nastiest, most dangerous gangs in the world. This festering crowd formed back in the early 1980s in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. Early members were young kids of El Salvadoran immigrants.

Home invasion is right up the alley of MS-13. If you have seen young street thugs with teardrops tattooed on their eyelids, gothic lettering tatts, and the number 666 or certainly any form of MS-13, you are likely to be a whole lot closer to a member of Mara Salvatrucha than you may wish. Trust me, MS-13 makes some of the notorious motorcycle gangs look like The Beach Boys.

And if, by example, you should live in any of the cities I have listed above, you have company. Any interest in self-preservation for your family yet? I would click to Dick Young’s #1 Personal Security Must Have for a refresher or a new look. And just to play safe, read it twice. Next click on the link to read the article by police officer and trainer Richard Johnson. I particularly like and subscribe to Richard’s closing warning, “When given the choice between a long gun and a pistol, consider the paraphrased advice of trainer Clint Smith: ‘The handgun is what you use to fight your way to the shotgun or rifle you shouldn’t have left behind in the first place’.”

OK then, personal defense is not for sissies. And I know the stark reality of what I write can be a real day ruiner for some. Your spouse may in fact bark something distasteful to you along the lines of “I don’t give a lick about Dick Young’s personal defense preparations.”

I have always operated on the assumption that there is no downside in having taken the initiative and time to educate and prepare my own family members. In America, I am sorry to report, the Supreme Court is a single seat away from having our Second Amendment rights compromised. And two of the justices that I am most convinced have a Second Amendment weak spine were nominated by the strongly Marxist-influenced gentleman who for a short while longer occupies the White House.

As a personal security maven, the first question I have for any 2012 presidential candidate is, would you have voted to have confirmed any of the following four supreme court justices: Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayer? One millisecond of hesitancy or beating around the bush, and no vote from me. It’s that simple. And just to close the deal, ask your candidate why America has not obliterated the MS-13 scourge. I’ll tell you this, one good mission for Special Forces operators that President Obama had better be pulling out from Iraq and Afghanistan is to set a fire under the MS-13 crowd. Have a nice day.

Warm Regards,

My goal was to establish a Swiss bank account. After a lot of ring-around-the-rosy for the past few months, I had little reason to be optimistic. My target bank was one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious Swiss private bankers. The branch I would visit was located in the business wing of one of the finest hotels in the world, so I felt that, regardless of my reception at the bank, the rest of my visit would be quite pleasant.

On the appointed day, I rang the security buzzer at the bank’s austere entrance and was greeted by a young French-speaking girl who had apparently taken the day off from middle school. Rolling out my limited French, I was able to make it clear that I was here to open an account. The young lady blinked and retreated to the inner sanctum of the reception area to return with a pleasant, if stern, older woman in tow. I was shown into a quite Swiss-looking meeting room and invited to sit at a conference table that could have accommodated the entire New England Patriots team. After a brief, all-business welcome, I was allowed to state the reason for my visit that day. I was there to open an account. Well, the bank’s officer looked at me apparently in disbelief. We cannot help you, Mr. Young. That was it. Period. No we are so sorry or we would love to, but… yak. After a little sparring, I was finally able to move things along to a modest discussion stage. As it turns out, the private bank not only would not be taking on any new American clients, but also had shown the door to many wealthy Americans with whom it had had a long-term relationship. In many cases, these clients, over the years, had turned into friends. All in all, it has been a true Swiss bank disaster, for both Swiss banks and their clients.

What happened to disturb such long-entrenched relationships? The short answer is invasive intrusion by the Obama administration and the Nancy Pelosi-led Congress. In 2009, House and Senate Democrats introduced the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. On 18 March 2010, the final version of FACTA shamefully became law as part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act. Under the guise of preventing a relatively small group of Americans from hiding assets in overseas accounts, the government has made something as basic as a Swiss bank account off bounds for all Americans. What Americans are looking at here are defacto currency controls. The unconstitutional Fed continues to print more and more money as the dollar depreciates, and Americans now have the most logical self-protection avenue blocked off.

At our family investment management company and in my regular strategy reports, we operate with this knowledge and take regular steps to preserve a client’s purchasing power. In my nearly five decades in the investment industry, the task has never been more difficult or more necessary.

The president refuses to give even his opinion on a subject as critical as enhanced interrogation techniques. This is typical of a man who voted “present” so many times in the Illinois Senate, and who continued voting present on controversial bills right through the U.S. Senate. It appears the president will continue to vote “present” right through the 2012 election, rather than take any political chances, in other words, showing leadership.

You would expect the liberal press to devote as much anger and attention toward any attempts to limit unions as it did during the battle over collective bargaining in Wisconsin earlier this year. Don’t count on it. The press is ignoring major moves to curtail union power, and the president is doing the same. President Obama did not fly to Massachusetts to campaign against a recent bill in the statehouse that limited public-sector unions’ ability to bargain with the state.

But then, Massachusetts is not a battleground state. And governor Deval Patrick, who will need political cover to sign the bill, is a very good friend of the president’s. Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, on the other hand, is not. Massachusetts isn’t the only Democratic redoubt Mr. Obama has failed to visit to save union members from their elected leaders. Mayor Dave Bing in Detroit sent layoff notices to all of the city school district’s 5,466 union employees. The same thing happened in Providence, Rhode Island, where Democratic mayor Angel Tavares put all of the city’s teachers on notice.

So why isn’t the president visiting Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Michigan to decry the “assault on unions” he demonized in Wisconsin? The answer is that Mr. Obama’s commitment to his union brethren is more political than spiritual. Union support is great for the president at the polls, but he is certainly not going to bash his buddy, Governor Patrick, or fellow Democrats Mayor Bing and Mayor Tavares to stand up for union members. But using the unions as a weapon against political foe Scott Walker? Absolutely.

What will happen when interest rates take off and the Obama administration wants to borrow, spend, tax and print more money? You just cannot make it up. Meanwhile, Fed Chief Bernanke tells aghast Americans that he is 100% certain he can keep inflation under control. Are either the Fed chief or the president noting that gold now trades at over $ 1500/oz? Let me be clear. Inflation is already out of control. The dollar is cratering versus hard currencies like the Swiss franc.

Republicans should not vote to raise the debt limit. The Fed, an unconstitutional body that should be shuttered, not only has caused another asset bubble, but also refuses to accept the rightful blame.

And President Obama wants a second term as president? I am still perplexed as to how a gentleman with as thin a resume as he has got one term. Just the mention of another go-around is disturbing. But Americans also voted for Wilson, FDR, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Clinton and Bush II, so go figure. The Founders intended the presidency to be a weak office with a handful of clearly enumerated powers. It is time to return America to the type of Federal Republic intended by our Founders.

Do the Republicans have a Federal Republic government candidate to run in 2012? I am unimpressed with what I see to date. Whoever runs will not receive my support unless I hear a powerful anti-intervention message, powerful support for the Second Amendment, and a mandate for dramatically smaller central government.
